love like water, triptych (2025)

Water is both subject and method, it is the element I return to in order to feel whole, regulated, and alive in my body. I paint both like water and with water, with each layer of paint and the process of washing the paint away again, reshaping the surface of the canvas and the paint. What remains is not controlled, but allowed.
Love, like water, finds its way into and around every thing, soaking in, bathing, nourishing, caressing and slowly carving even the hardest places.
Layers of peach, turquoise, teals, deep blues, and black move between shadow and light.
I cry easefully, love deeply, and paint as a way of opening to life - I am built close to water. When I paint, I dance with my brushes and sing love into the canvases with every stroke, allowing love to move through me as water moves through the earth.
